PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania -- The University of Maine field hockey program fell in regulation 2-1 to Drexel University on Sunday afternoon.
Drexel opened the scoring 2:27 into the contest on a goal from Valentine Van Hellem. Drexel would add another goal in the 19th minute from Pili Lemoine, as Drexel would take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Martha Barratt would score off a drag flick shot on a Maine penalty corner in the 48th minute. Barratt's 4th goal of the season was assisted by
Olivia Geniti and
Saylor Kuefler to bring the Black Bears within one in the 4th quarter.
Drexel would finish the game with the advantage in shots 17-7 and penalty corners 8-4.
Rozárie Mrázová would play all 60 minutes inside the cage for the Black Bears making 5 saves in the contest.
Maine opens up America East play on the road as they take on the University of Albany on Friday October 3.
