Orono, ME - The America East Conference announced on Tuesday morning that
Myles Sargent and
Caleb Leys of the University of Maine baseball team were named the Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Sargent, a native of Greenland, NH, hit .556 with a .889 SLG% as he had 14 RBIs, three doubles and a grand slam in a 3-1 weekend for the Black Bears. He tied his career-high with 7 RBIs on Friday as he took over the lead in the America East for RBIs on the season as he is up to 38.
Leys, a native of Middletown, RI, continued his streak of allowing 1 or fewer earned runs in five-straight games as he went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, 3 walks and striking out 9. Leys holds the lowest ERA in the conference with a 2.54 ERA, the lowest batting average against at .233 and the most strikeouts with 60.
