Albin Boija, Brandon Holt garner Hockey East All-Star honors

Boija was named to the second time while Holt was named to the third team.

ORONO, Maine – Two University of Maine men's ice hockey players were recognized as Hockey East All-Stars on Friday morning when the league office announced the 2024-25 all-star teams.
 
Albin Boija was named a Hockey East Second Team All-Star while Brandon Holt was named a Hockey East Third Team All-Star. Additionally, Boija was tabbed as the runner-up for the Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Year award and Holt was runner-up for Best Defensive Defenseman.
 
Boija finished the Hockey East conference slate at 13-5-6 overall with a 1.77 goals against average and .933 save percentage. His 1.77 goals against ranked second overall while his .933 save percentage was third best and second among goaltenders who played more than 10 conference contests. The sophomore was the only Hockey East goaltender to play all 24 conference games, leading the league with over 1,400 minutes between the pipes. Since at least 2002-03, Boija's 1.77 goals against is the best mark by a Hockey East goaltender who played at least 23 conference games. He also posted two shutouts in league play. Overall on the year, he is fourth in the country in goals against average (1.77) and is tied eighth in save percentage (.929) while ranking with 20 wins. The Sundsvall, Sweden native is just the third Hockey East goaltender since the start of the 2005-06 season to post a goals against average below 1.80 in their first 33 games played in a season.
 
Holt finished the 24-game conference slate with 14 points on three goals and 11 assists while also firing 54 shots on goal and recoding a plus-5 rating. Overall on the year, Holt has a career-high 20 points from four goals and a career-best 16 assists and 71 shots on goal. The junior also has a career-high 41 blocked shots, 36 of which came in league play to lead the Black Bears and sit tied for 11th overall among defensemen. Holt also had one power-play tally in conference contests. The Grand Forks, N.D. native is the first Maine defenseman to receive Hockey East All-Star honors since Brady Keeper in 2018-19.

 
Earlier this week, David Breazeale was named a runner-up for the Len Ceglarski Individual Sportsmanship Award while Nolan Renwick was runner-up for the Best Defensive Forward award.
