LEXINGTON, Va. -- The University of Maine men's swimming & diving team set three school records, two relay marks and an individual record, on day one at the America East Championships. After one day of competition the Black Bears sit in fourth place with 70 points.
Maine's team of
Cam Watelet,
Nate Teerlinck,
Joey Stauss, and
Julian LaPietra took fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with a new school record time of 1:28.57.
Finn Devers,
Kaden Kilger, LaPietra, and Stauss teamed up to post Maine's school record time of 6:38.45 in the 800-yard freestyle relay, good for fifth place. In the race, Devers set a new 200-yard freestyle school record as he completed his leg in 1:38.64.
DJ Mulligan had Maine's top performance on the diving board, placing ninth in the 1-meter at 217.45.
