WATERVILLE, MAINE -- The University of Maine men's swimming & diving team placed third with 777.5 points at the Maine State Meet, hosted by Colby College.
Joey Stauss had the top individual showing for Maine as he set the school and meet record in the 200-yard butterfly with a winning time of 1:48.80. Stauss added a runner-up showing in the 100-yard breaststroke at 56.75.
Matthew Bendoraitis won the 200-yard backstroke at 2:12.81 and placed 10th in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:45.33.
Jackson White placed fifth in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:57.88 and tied for ninth in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 52.20.
Julian LaPietra placed third in the 100-yard freestyle at 45.42 and took seventh in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:44.86.
Nate Teerlinck posted a fifth place showing in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.81) and took eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.55).
Noah Machristie finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.17) and took eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.55).
Ian Mallari took seventh in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.77) and the 100-yard IM (53.78).
On the boards,
Gray Miller set the meet record with a winning score of 293.20.
Jeremiah Small won the 3-meter event with a meet record score of 291.25 and took second in the 1-meter at 267.35.
DJ Mulligan was the runner-up on the 3-meter (240.60) and took third on the 1-meter (247.70).
Stauss, LaPietra, White, and
Scott Klein took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:04.68.Â
Bendoraitis, Teerlinck, Stauss, and LaPietra paired up to place fifth in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:32.26.
