KINGSTON, R.I. --
Joey Stauss and
Jesse Lower posted record-setting marks on day three of the Harold Anderson Invitational. Through three days of competition, the men's swimming & diving team sits in fourth place with 426 points.
Stauss took the gold in the 100-yard butterfly with a winning time of 48.10. Earlier in the day, Stauss set the pool and UMaine record mark in the 100-fly with a time of 47.15 in the preliminary event.
Lower won the 100-yard breaststroke with a final time of 55.40. Earlier in the day in the prelim of the event, Lower set a new UMaine school record in the event with a time of 54.72.
Gray Miller led three Black Bears in the top-five of the 3-meter dive. Miller finished third with 279.40 points and was followed by
DJ Mulligan in fourth (278.80) and
Jeremiah Small in fifth (259.35).
Carter Bartolini finished sixth in teh 400-yard IM at 4:07.41 while
Jackson White took seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.25.
Matthew Bendoraitis placed eight in the 100-yard backstroke at 51.98.
Noah Machristie added an 11th place mark of 4:09.77 in the 400-yard IM.
Bendoraitis, Lower, Stauss, and
Julian LaPietra teamed up to take the silver medal in the 400-yard medley relay at 3:20.78.
