Preview: Black Bears, Wildcats set to meet in regular season finale

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will close out the 2025 regular season when it hosts rival New Hampshire on Thursday, Oct. 30.
 
The Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle will kick off at 7 p.m. at the New Balance Soccer Complex. The match will stream live on ESPN+.
 
Prior to the game, Maine women's soccer legend Abby Kraemer's jersey is set to officially be retired in a pregame ceremony.

ABOUT MAINE
• Maine sits at 2-3-2 in America East play and 3-7-3 overall after falling on the road at NJIT this past Saturday, 2-1 … Maine trailed 2-0 and went on to out-shoot the Highlanders 13-3 in the second half but couldn't complete the comeback despite Victoria Dungey's first goal of the season.
• Emma Nicholson leads Maine in points (8), assists (4) and shots (31) while sitting second with two goals … Nicholson ranks first in conference assists with three.
• Julie Lossius (3-0-6) and Abbey Thornton (3-1-7) are tied for the team lead in goals.
• The Black Bears lead the conference in shots (114) and shots per game (16.29) while ranking third in shots on goal per game (6.14) ... in shots per game, Victoria Dungey (2.43) sits eighth in the conference while Nicholson (2.33) is ninth.
 
ABOUT NEW HAMPSHIRE
• New Hampshire enters Thursday night's clash at 4-4-7 overall and 2-1-4 in America East play after playing UMBC to a 1-1 tie at Wildcat Stadium on Sunday.
• UNH has played to three consecutive ties, doing it against UMBC, Binghamton (1-1) and Bryant (0-0).
• Abbi Maier (5-1-11) and Ricshya Walker (4-3-11) lead the Wildcats in scoring.
• Eleven different players have scored a goal for UNH this season, including six Wildcats with multiple goals.
 
SERIES HISTORY vs NEW HAMPSHIRE
• Maine holds an all-time record of 18-19-4 in the series with New Hampshire … the Black Bears went 2-0-0 last season, earning a 1-0 road win to close out the regular season and then defeating the Wildcats in the America East Championship game.
• Eight of the last 10 and games and 15 of the last 17 have been decided by one goal or less.
• Current Black Bears Julie Lossius (1-0-2), Jordane Pinette (1-0-2), Madison Michaud (0-1-1) and Victoria Dungey (0-1-1) have recorded at least point against the Wildcats in their careers.
• The first-ever meeting in the series came in 1990, with UNH picking up a 6-1 win.
