PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The University of Maine men's swimming & diving program registered five victories in an 187-111 loss at Providence College on Saturday.
Matthew Bendoraitis and
Joey Stauss led Maine, each notching a victory and a third place finish. Bendoraitis won the 200-meter backstroke at 2:06.03 after placing third in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 59.48. Stauss won the 100-meter butterfly at 57.17 before touching the wall third in the 200-IM at 2:12.44.
Cam Watelet posted a pair of runner-up showings in the 100-meter backstroke (58.87) and the 100-meter butterfly (58.09).
Julian LaPietra placed second in the 50-meter freestyle (24.14) and was also the silver medalist in the 100-meter free at 52.68.
Nate Teerlink took second in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:06.97 and placed third in the 200-meter breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:33.77.
Finn Devers finished third in the 200-meter freestyle at 1:57.30 while
Kaden Kilger added a third place showing in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:15.78.
On the boards,
Jeremiah Small swept both legs of the 1-meter events with s cores of 281.78 and 301.73.
Watelet, Teerlinck, Stauss, and LaPietra teamed up to take gold in the 200-meter medley relay with a winning mark of 1:47.07.
Watelet, Devers, LaPietra, and Kilger took second in the 200-meter freestyle relay at 1:35.64.
Maine returns to action when it take spart in the four-day America East Championships, hosted by VMI, on Feb. 19-22.
