ORONO, Maine - Two players from the University of Maine women's ice hockey team were tabbed Hockey East players of the month, the conference announced Friday. Senior forward
Adriana van de Leest earned Player of the Month and first-year defender
Kendall Sundby earned Defender of the Month.
Van de Leest earned six points, one goal and five assists, in three games played during the month of December. Against Boston University on December 6, van de Leest assisted Maine's lone goal, followed by assisting all three of Maine's goals the following night against UConn. In the December 14th game against Merrimack, van de Leest opened up the scoring for Maine before assisting the game-winning goal.
Adriana van de Leest is currently on a four-game point streak.
Kendall Sundby registered two powerplay goals and two assists for four points in December. Sundby leads all rookies in Hockey East in powerplay goals (PPG) and is second overall in PPG with three total this season. She leads all rookie defenders in goals, also. Sundby is currently on a three-game point streak.Â
