Black Bears Return Home to Host Stonehill on Sunday

Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will return home this weekend when it hosts Stonehill on Sunday. The first 50 fans at the noontime game will received a free Maine athletics t-shirt.
 
Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond. The game will stream live on America East TV.

ABOUT MAINE
• Maine enters Sunday at 2-1-2 after dropping a 3-0 affair at Big 10 foe Rutgers on Sunday, Sept. 1 … the loss snapped a 12-game unbeaten streak in non-conference regular season games.
• The Black Bears have also picked up wins over Le Moyne and Rhode Island while tying Syracuse and Merrimack.
• Maine's four-game unbeaten streak to start the season marked the third consecutive year that the Black Bears went unbeaten in the first four games and the fourth straight year to go unbeaten in the first three games.
• Abby Kraemer and Lara Kirkby are tied for the team lead in points with five each … Kraemer has one goal and three assists while Kirkby has two goals and an assist … Jordane Pinette also has a pair of goals.
• Maine returns 95 percent of the scoring from 2023, including nine of the top 10 point-getters.

ABOUT STONEHILL
• The Skyhawks – who play at Fordham on Thursday night – sit at 1-4-0 on the 2024 season, with the lone win coming over Quinnipiac (1-0) … the Skyhawks have lost to a pair of America East teams in New Hampshire (2-0) and Bryant (5-0).
• Stonehill went 2-13-3 overall last season … Grace Casco and Hannah Anselmo both return after finishing first and second, respectively, on the team in scoring, in 2023.
 
SERIES HISTORY vs STONEHILL
• Maine is 1-1-0 all-time against Stonehill.
• The teams met last season in Easton, Mass., with the Black Bears earning a 5-1 win … Abby Kraemer and Gillian Rovers scored two goals each while Kayla Kraemer had one.
• The first-ever meeting between these two teams came in the 1992 season, with Stonehill picking up a 2-1 win.
