David Breazeale and
Lynden Breen will captain the 2024-25 Maine men's ice hockey team while
Nolan Renwick,
Harrison Scott and
Thomas Freel will serve as alternate captains.

Breen and Breazeale are both donning the 'C' for the second consecutive season while Renwick is an alternate captain for the second straight year. This is the first year that Scott and Freel will wear a letter on their jerseys. Breen and Breazeale also wore 'A's during the 2022-23 season.

Breen, a native of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, is coming off of a 2023-24 season in which he recorded 30 points on nine goals and a career-high 21 assists. The fifth-year forward is the Hockey East active leader in points (102), goals (42), assists (60), face-off wins (1,157) and shots on goal (362).

Breazeale, a defenseman, has played in all 106 games for the Black Bears over his first three seasons in Orono. As a junior in 2023-24, the Michigan native blocked a career-high 43 shots while firing a career-high 76 on goal. He enters his senior season with 38 points on five goals and 33 assists to go with 115 blocked shots.

Renwick, a forward, skated in 25 contests in 2023-24 and enters his fourth year in Orono with 42 points in 94 career games. The Milestone, Saskatchewan native has 624 career face-off wins and a career face-off winning percentage of .549. Renwick has 15 goals and 27 assists as a Black Bear.

Scott, a senior forward, made an immediate impact when he arrived in Orono ahead of the 2023-24 season. In his first year as a Black Bear, Scott set career-highs in points (27), goals (15), assists (12), shots on goal (102), face-off wins (396), power-play goals (4) and game-winning goals (4). The San Jose, Calif. native finished second in Hockey East with his face-off wins (396) and was fourth in wins per game (10.70).

Freel, a forward, recorded career-highs in points (22), goals (6) and assists (16) in 2023-24. The native of Aberdeen, Scotland enters his junior season with 37 points on eight goals and 29 assists in 73 career games. Freel was also a member of the Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team.
