Orono, ME - The University of Maine field hockey program defeated Merrimack on Saturday afternoon, 6-0.
Josette Babineau earned her 200th career win in the contest.

Goal One: Olivia Geniti got the Black Bears on the board first as she gathered in a rebound off of a shot by the Black Bears in the 17' minute. The goal was her team-leading fourth of the season.

Goal Two: Maeve Fogarty got her first goal as a Black Bear in the 19' minute as she redirected a ball that got popped up into the air by
Kate Richardson (2) that came off of a feed from
Zoe Furber (1) to make it 2-0 Black Bears.

Goal Three: Kate Richardson tallied her third goal of the season as she battled in front of the net with both the goalkeeper for Merrimack and a defender as she powered in the ball into the back of the net.

Goal Four: Micaela Grajales scored her second goal as a Black Bear off of a great deflection in front of the net on the penalty corner chance.
Alexandra Sacker (3) and
Victoria Tinghitella (2) set up the corner with a set and shot play at the top of the circle.

Goal Five: Tinghitella got a goal of her own as she continued the pressure on rebounds as she grabbed one of her own and promptly fired it into the back of the net, giving her her third goal of the season.

Goal Six: Poppy Lambert capped off the dominate performance from the Black Bears as she scored her second penalty stroke goal of the season, which
Floor Dijkhuizen set up by her hustle in front of the Merrimack goalkeeper, leading to her getting tripped.

Notes of the Game:
- Maine allowed zero shot attempts in the contest as the Black Bears took 43 shots, 29 of which were on target.
- The Black Bears won the penalty corner battle, 15-1
- Rozarie Mrazova and Jayde Temby combined for the second shutout of the season for Maine.
- Maine has had five games so far in 2024 where no Black Bear has scored more than one goal in a game (when Maine has scored at least two goals in a contest).
