ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of Maine softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to UAlbany on Friday afternoon at UAlbany Field.

How it Happened

The Great Danes scratched a run across in the bottom of the first inning, with a sacrifice fly giving them a 1-0 lead.
The Black Bears had runners on base in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings but couldn't move them past second base.
After going up 2-0 in the bottom of the third, UAlbany plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth frame for the 8-0 victory.

Game Notes

Kennedy Priest, Caitlyn Fallon and Rylee Kent all tallied hits for the Black Bears.
Fallon started in the circle, going 4.2 winnings while giving up six runs on eight hits … Kaly Thomas allowed two runs on two hits in relief work.

How it Happened

UAlbany pushed two runs across in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the second for a 4-0 lead after two.
The Great Danes added a fifth run in the fourth inning.
Maine head base runners in the second and Keira Inman singled to lead off the third but the runners were stranded in both innings.
The Black Bears threatened again in the sixth, putting runners on first and second, and Caitlyn Fallon singled to lead off the seventh but UAlbany shut down the Maine offense.

Game Notes

Krista Francia, Caitlyn Fallon and Keira Inman all singled for the Black Bears.
Alysen Rieth started, throwing 6.0 innings while giving up five runs on four this with nine walks and six strikeouts.
Fallon has now registered a hit in seven out of the last nine games.
