Jeremiah Jenkins Named America East Player of the Week

Became Second Player in America East History to have multiple 19+ Home Run Seasons

Orono, ME - The America East Conference announced on Tuesday morning that Jeremiah Jenkins of the University of Maine baseball program was named the Player of the Week following his standout week last week.

Jenkins, a junior out of Upper Marlboro, MD, has been putting up numbers that few have ever done in the history of the America East during the 2024 season. Last week, Jenkins hit .579 with a slugging percentage of 1.421, due in large part to his five home run week. Jenkins is only the second player in the history of the America East to hit 19+ home runs in multiple seasons (21 in 2023). His 19 home runs currently have him in a tie for 12th in the nationally rankings and his .49 home runs per game is ranked 11th.

Jenkins had 4 RBI's over the weekend to help the Black Bears pick up a pair of conference victories over Binghamton in a 2-1 weekend. He had two home runs in the first game of the weekend series before adding his third of the weekend in the Sunday finale. He homered in each of Maine's midweek games against Merrimack and added on 3 RBI's to his total on the week.

Maine is back in action on Thursday, May 2 as the take on UMBC in a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 3 P.M.
