ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team fought back from a 4-0 deficit to get the winning run at first in the bottom of the seventh but ultimately fell to the UAlbany Great Danes, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the UMaine Softball Complex.

How it Happened

• UAlbany put single runs on the board in the top of the first, third, fourth and fifth frames to take a 4-0 lead after 4.5 innings of play.
• Nora Campo led off the bottom of the fifth with a deep double to left center … Rylee Kent's single and a sacrifice bunt from Keira Inman moved the pinch runner to third … Kenedee Giddens then singled in a run … Katie Jo Moery's single scored Giddens safely and a subsequent fielding error scored Maine's third run of the inning.
• In the bottom of the seventh, the Black Bears threatened again and got two runners on thanks to a walk and an error but UAlbany closed out the game with a groundout for the 4-3 final.

• Katie Jo Moery went 2-for-4 with an RBI … Anna Margetis was 2-for-3 … Nora Campo and Rylee Kent each went 1-for-3 while Kyli Hernandez was 1-for-1.
• Giddens, Kyrah Haba-Dailey and Hernandez scored runs for Maine.
• Isabelle True started, going 4.0 innings while giving up three runs on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout … Ava Zettlemoyer allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts in 1.0 innings while Kaly Thomas threw 2.0 innings of one-hit, three-strikeout run-less relief.
