Albany, NY - The University of Maine baseball program split a doubleheader on Saturday with the Great Danes of UAlbany.
Game One: First Pitch - Noon (8-4 Black Bears - 7 Innings)
First Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears on the board early as he hit a solo home run to right field, his 10th home run of the season.
Second Inning: Jack Friend got the three-run inning going for Maine as he singled to left field, scoring Myles Sargent (1B).
Nick White capped off the inning with a two-run single to left field, scoring Will Burns (1B) and Friend (1B).
Third Inning: Maine added on three more runs on a bases loaded walk from Jake Marquez, scoring Colin Plante (BB), a wild pitch that scored Sargent (1B) and a sac-fly by White to score Friend (BB).
Fourth Inning: Burns made it 8-0 Black Bears as he hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring Dean O'Neill (E5).
UAlbany scored four runs in the bottom of the frame, two of which were unearned.
Gianni Gambardella went the complete 7-innings in game one, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. He picked up his first win of the season.

Game Two: First Pitch - 2:30 P.M. (17-7 UAlbany)
First Inning: UAlbany plated four runs in the opening frame, three of which were unearned.
Second Inning: The Great Danes tacked on three more runs in the second frame.
Third Inning: Marshall Smaracko began the frame on the mound for Maine. Jason Krieger lasted only 2 innings, allowing 7 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits, 5 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Smaracko lasted just â…“ of an inning as he allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits and 2 walks.
UAlbany plated five runs in the frame to make it 12-0 after three.
Fourth Inning: White added onto his big day at the plate as he hit a two-run home run to center field, scoring Jeremiah Jenkins (1B) on the play. White was up to 5 RBI's on the day as he had 3 in game one.
Fifth Inning: Maine continued to chip away at the big deficit as Jenkins hit an RBI double to right field, scoring Burns (BB). The Black Bears scored one more run a batter later on an error, which allowed Friend (1B) to score.
Seventh Inning: Zach Martin got the Black Bears back to within six as he hit a no-doubt home run to center field. His second home run of the season was a two-run shot that also scored White (E6).
Geoff Mosseau was called on in the seventh inning to relieve Lewis with two runners on and one out. Lewis lasted 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, 5 walks and 5 strikeouts.
UAlbany scored three runs in the frame.
Eighth Inning: Marquez brought home the final run of the day for the Black Bears on an RBI single to left field, which scored Plante (HBP/SBx2).
UAlbany scored one run of their own, capping off the game at a final score of 17-7.
Mosseau allowed 2 runs across his 1 and â…” innings of relief. He allowed 2 hits, 4 walks and struck out 4.
Maine (5-17, 2-3 AE) will wrap up the weekend series on Sunday, March 31 against the Great Danes. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
