Baseball Drops Series Finale at UAlbany on Sunday Afternoon

Albany, NY - The University of Maine baseball team fell in the series finale against UAlbany, 9-7.

First Pitch: Noon (9-7 UAlbany)

First Inning: Zach Martin got the Black Bears on the board first as he hit an RBI single to center field, scoring Jeremiah Jenkins (1B). Jake Marquez added another run on a sac-fly to center field, scoring Nick White (1B).

UAlbany responded with a pair of runs on a single in the bottom of the frame.

Second Inning: White picked up his sixth RBI of the weekend series as he had a hard hit ball up the middle to bring home Camden MacDonald (BB) to put the Black Bears back in front at 3-2.

Fifth Inning: Jack Friend picked up his first two RBI's of the day on one swing of the bat as he hit a double to the left field fence, bringing home Zach Martin (1B) and Myles Sargent (1B).

Camden MacDonald made it a three-run frame for Maine as he hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Friend (2B).

Gabe Gifford began the bottom of the frame on the mound for Maine. Luc Lavigueur turned in a good outing on the mound for Maine as he allowed just 2 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts across 4 innings of work.

Gifford failed to record an as he allowed 4 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks. Colton Carson was called on with the bases loaded in the frame.

The Great Danes plated five runs in the frame, taking the lead at 7-6.

Sixth Inning: Martin tied the contest back up at 7-7 as he hit an RBI double to center field, scoring White (FC).

Ryan Scott began the inning on the mound for Maine. Carson allowed 1 run on 1 hit, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts in 1 inning of work.

Seventh Inning: UAlbany retook the lead on a bases loaded walk.
