The Maine softball team will host UAlbany this weekend in the 2024 home opening series at the UMaine Softball Complex.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team will host UAlbany this weekend in the 2024 home opening series at the UMaine Softball Complex.

The two America East squads are set to play two games on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m., and then a single game at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Saturday will feature a post-game egg hunt around the field and on Sunday, fans are invited to run the bases after the game.

RECENT HISTORY

The Black Bears are 1-4 in the last five meetings with the Great Danes and 1-9 in the last 10.
The teams met four times in 2023 … they split a doubleheader in Orono in March, with Maine earning a 7-6 extra-innings win before falling 8-0 in the second game … they then met twice in the America East Tournament, with UAlbany picking up 7-3 and 5-3 wins.

UAlbany – picked to finish fourth in the 2024 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll – brings an overall mark of 11-6 into the weekend ... the Great Danes swept UMass 3-0 and 10-5.

BLACK BEAR BITS

Katie Jo Moery leads Maine with a .309 average and has a team-leading 17 hits, including five doubles and a triple, and has reached base safely in four consecutive games.
Moery and Krista Francia are tied for the team lead in multi-hit games with three each … Rylee Kent is riding a three-game hit streak.
Maine played at conference-favorite UMBC last weekend … the Black Bears dropped 8-2 and 12-4 games on Friday … on Sunday, Maine fell in a nine-frame extra-innings affair, 4-2.

UP NEXT

The Black Bears will host a non-conference game Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, April 3 before returning to America East play with a three-game series against Bryant April 6-7 at the UMaine Softball Complex.
