BALTIMORE, Md. – The UMBC softball team used a ninth inning walk-off home run to edge the University of Maine, 4-2, on Saturday at the UMBC Softball Stadium.

How it Happened

• The Black Bears and Retrievers played scoreless softball through the first four innings.
• After Maine got out of a jam in the bottom of the fourth – stranding UMBC runners on second and third – the Black Bears took the 1-0 lead … Rylee Kent and Kennedy Priest had back-to-back singles and then Kent's pinch runner Kyrah Haba-Dailey scored on a throwing error.
• The Retrievers got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth for the 2-1 lead.
• In the top of the sixth, Anna Margetis sent her second home run of the season over the left field fence to tie the game, 2-2.
• After a scoreless bottom of the sixth and seventh inning, the game went to extra innings … UMBC sent a two-run shot over the left field fence for the win in the bottom of the ninth.

 Game Notes

• Isabelle True got the start in the circle, going 4.1 innings while allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks … Kaly Thomas threw 4.0 innings of relief, giving up two runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
• Anna Margetis went 1-for-4 with her second home run of the season.
• Kennedy Priest was 1-for-2 at the plate while Rylee Kent was 1-for-3 and Katie Jo Moery was 1-for-2 with a double.
