Black Bears Earn NCAA Tournament At-Large Bid

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's hockey team has been selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament, it was announced on Sunday night by the selection committee.

The fifth-seeded Black Bears will face Cornell in the Springfield Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28 at the MassMutual Center. The winner of that game will face the winner of Denver-UMass matchup on Saturday, March 30.

The four regional winners will advance to the 2024 Men's Frozen Four, held April 11-13 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Maine received one of 10 at-large bids after finishing the regular season with a mark of 22-10-2 and advancing to the Hockey East Tournament Championship Weekend this past weekend where it fell to Boston University, 4-1, in the semifinal round. The Black Bears are currently 23-11-2 overall and ranked seventh in the most recent national polls.

This is the 19th NCAA Tournament for the Black Bears and the first since the 2012 tournament. Maine has won two national titles, doing it in 1993 and 1999, and has played in 11 Frozen Fours. The Black Bears are 30-20 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
