ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine defensive lineman Xavier Holmes has been named to the 2024 University Division All-New England Team, as announced by the New England Football Writers Association on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Holmes, one of only 15 defensive players selected to the Al-New England Team roster, had a career year for the Black Bears, setting career-high marks in tackles (72), tackles for loss (12.5), and sacks (6). Holmes, who led Maine in tackles for loss and sacks, also added two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and an interception. He finished the season ranked seventh in the CAA in tackles for loss per game and ninth in sacks per game.

Holmes was also honored to the All-CAA Second Team by the conference earlier in the postseason.
