Football earns six All-CAA accolades

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team earned six All-CAA selections, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.

Xavier Holmes (DL) headlined the honorees with a selection to the All-CAA second team while Trevin Ewing (KR), Montigo Moss (WR), and Joe Horn (OL) were each selected to the All-CAA third team. Izaiah Henderson and Jamaree Gibson were selected as All-CAA honorable mention performers.

Holmes had a career year for the Black Bears, setting career-high marks in tackles (72), tackles for loss (12.5), and sacks (6). Holmes, who led Maine in tackles for loss and sacks, also added two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and an interception. He finished the season ranked seventh in the CAA in tackles for loss per game and ninth in sacks per game.

Ewing ranked 12th in the CAA with 87.0 all-purpose yards per game and third at 27.5 kickoff yards per return. Ewing, who took a kickoff back 98-yards for a score against Monmouth, also added 10 receptions for 182-yards and 120 rush yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.

Moss posted career-highs in receptions (61), receiving yards (722), and receiving touchdowns with seven on the season. He posted five or more receptions in nine games including a season-best nine receptions for 80-yards at Rhode Island. Moss concluded the season ranked sixth in the CAA in receiving touchdowns, ninth in receiving yards, and sixth in receptions per game (5.1).

Horn was a leader all season for the Black Bears across the offensive line where he made 11 starts while assisting Maine's rushing attack to eight 100+ yard performances.

Henderson posted 47 tackles, 7.5 for loss, with a career-high five sacks on the season. At UAlbany, Henderson registered 3.0 tackles for loss with a pair of sacks before tallying seven tackles with a pair of sacks in Maine's win over Villanova. Henderson matched his season-high with seven more stops against Bryant.

Gibson notched career-highs in tackles (34) and pass deflections (10) while his season-highlight came when he returned an interception 78-yards for a touchdown to seal Maine's win at UAlbany. Gibson set career-highs with six tackles in back-to-back games (Bryant/Elon) before registering a career-best three pass deflections in Maine's season finale against New Hampshire.
