Preview: Black Bears host NJIT on Senior Day Sunday

Kick off is set for 1 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will host NJIT on Sunday, Oct. 27 in the final regular season home contest of 2024.
 
The Black Bears and Highlanders are set to kickoff at 1 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond. The America East contest will stream live on ESPN+.
 
The game will serve as Maine's Senior Day, with the graduating student-athletes will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.

ABOUT MAINE
• Maine enters Sunday at 10-1-2 overall and 6-0 in America East play after earning a 1-0 win over UAlbany at home this past Sunday … the Black Bears are the first America East team to start conference play with six consecutive wins since Boston University in 2012.
• The win against the Great Danes marked the eighth-straight win for Maine, a program record … Maine's six conference wins tie a program-best.
• The Black Bears have secured a top-two seed and quarterfinal round bye for the America East Championship and will host a semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 7.
• Abby Kraemer (5-4-14) leads the team in points with Jordane Pinette (5-2-12) and Kristina Kelly (3-4-10) also hitting double-digit points … Pinette's five goals have all been game-winning goals, tied for fourth in the country.
• With a 1-0 win over UMass Lowell on Oct. 3, the Black Bears set the America East record for longest home-game unbeaten streak at 23 games then extended it to 24 against UAlbany.
• The Black Bears were tabbed 24th in this week's Top Drawer Soccer National Rankings.

BALANCED ATTACK
• Abby Kraemer (5-4-14) leads the team in points while Jordane Pinette (5-2-12) and Kristina Kelly (3-4-10) make Maine the only team in the conference with three players with at least 10 points each.
• With Lara Kirkby (3-2-8) and Kayla Kraemer (3-2-8), Maine is also the first America East team since 2019 to have five players with at least eight points each.
 
ABOUT NJIT
• The Highlanders sit at 3-10-2 overall and 0-5-1 in America East play after falling to UMass Lowell, 2-0, this past Sunday … NJIT also played Binghamton last week, battling the Bearcats to a 1-1 tie.
• Briana Andreoli – who was named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team – leads NJIT with eight points from three goals and two assists … Kelsey Ramos also has three goals and one assist for seven points.
• Mojisola Ayodele and Samantha Constantine have each seen time in goal … Ayodele is 1-4-1 with a .710 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average while Constantine is 2-6-1 with a 1.33 goals against average and .707 save percentage.
• The Highlanders were tabbed sixth in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll.

SERIES HISTORY vs NJIT
• Maine holds an all-time record of 2-1-2 against NJIT.
• Last season, the Black Bears earned a 2-0 road win behind goals from Victoria Dungey and Abbey Thornton.
• Abby Kraemer (1-1-3), Julie Lossius (1-2-3), Dungey (1-0-2), Thornton (1-0-2) and Kayla Kraemer (0-1-1) all have points against the Highlanders in their careers.
• Kayla Kraemer has played in all five previous matches against the Highlanders.
• The first-ever meeting in the series came on March 14, 2021, with the teams battling to a 1-1 tie in Orono.
