Preview: Black Bears host UAlbany on Sunday Afternoon

Maine and UAlbany will kickoff the America East contest at noon at Mahaney Diamond.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will return home this weekend to host UAlbany on Sunday, Oct. 20.
 
The Black Bears and Great Danes are set to kickoff at 12 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond. The America East contest will stream live on ESPN+. As part of the annual 'Bark at the Park' game, every dog will receive a Maine Black Bears bandana.

ABOUT MAINE
• Maine enters Sunday at 9-1-2 overall and 5-0 in America East play after earning a 2-1 road win at UMBC this past Sunday … Kristina Kelly and Abbey Thornton scored in the win … the Black Bears are the first America East team to start conference play with five consecutive wins since Boston University and Hartford in 2012.
• The Black Bears have now tied a program record with seven consecutive wins and have earned the first five-game conference winning streak for the program since 2004.
• Abby Kraemer (4-4-12) and Jordane Pinette (5-2-12) are tied for the team lead in points while Kristina Kelly (3-4-10) is third with 10 points … Pinette's five goals have all been game-winning goals, tied for second most in the country.
• With Lara Kirkby (3-2-8) and Kayla Kraemer (3-2-8), Maine is the first America East team since 2019 to have five players with at least eight points each.
• With a 1-0 win over UMass Lowell on Oct. 3, the Black Bears set the America East record for longest home-game unbeaten streak at 23 games.

ABOUT UALBANY
• The Great Danes enter Sunday's contest at 3-10-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play after falling 3-0 at Vermont on Thursday night.
• Selma Elverum (2-1-5) and Casey Stowell (2-1-5) lead the team with five points each while nine different Great Danes have scored a goal … Madison Hnis has a team-high 20 shots while Elverum has a team-leading nine shots on goal.
• Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman is 3-10-1 with a .785 save percentage and 2.31 goals against average ... Dorfman has made 117 saves while earning one shutout.
• UAlbany tied for seventh in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll.

SERIES HISTORY vs UALBANY
• Maine holds an all-time record of 12-10-2 in the series with UAlbany.
• Last season, Maine earned a 3-0 win on the road thanks to goals from Luise Reinwald, Abby Kraemer and Kayla Kraemer … Kayla Kraemer has two career goals against the Great Danes while Abby Kraemer has one goal and one assist.
• The teams first met in 2001, with the Black bears earning a 3-0 win … Maine won the first nine meetings in the series while UAlbany held an eight-game winning streak from 2014-2021.
