ORONO, Maine – University of Maine men's hockey freshman forward
Josh Nadeau has been named the Hockey Commissioners' Association National Player of the Month, as announced on Friday by the organization.
Â
In the month of December, Nadeau ranked second among all NCAA skaters with 12 points on six goals and six assists, while his 2.00 points per game average in six outings was the best of any player that skated in more than four contests. Nadeau had two game-winning goals, two game-winning assists and two power-play goals.
Â
The St-François-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick native recorded four multi-point games during the month of December: a hat trick against UNH, a three-assist game against UConn, a two-goal game against Bentley and a two-assist game at Dartmouth. Nadeau notched at least one point in all six games in helping Maine to a 6-0-0 month. He finished December with a plus-8 rating, 21 shots on goal and three blocked shots. Nadeau also ended the month by pushing his point streak to 12 games for the longest streak by a Maine player since Devin Shore had an 11-game streak during the 2013-14 season.
Â
Nadeau, who was named the Hockey East Player of the Month earlier this week and was recognized as the Player of the Week on Dec. 4, is the first Maine player to earn a national monthly award since Spencer Abbott was named the National Player of the Month for December 2011.
