Friars skate past Black Bears in Hockey East action

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  The #18/17 Providence College Friars skated to a 6-1 win over the #12/14 University of Maine men's ice hockey team on Friday night at Schneider Arena.
 
The Friars took a 2-0 lead in the first period and then stretched it out to 5-0 by the end of the second, thanks to a string of three consecutive power-play goals.
 
The Black Bears finally got on the board less than a minute into the third period, with Brandon Holt putting home a power-play goal of his own. The hosts, though, capped off the scoring 12 minutes later for the 6-1 final.
