AMESBURY, Mass. – Justin Poirier and Brandon Chabrier have earned Hockey East monthly honors for the month of December, as announced on Wednesday by the league. Poirier has been named the Hockey East Player of the Month while Chabrier earned the Army ROTC Defender of the Month honor.

Poirier led Hockey East and tied for second in the nation with nine points on six goals and three assists. The freshman's six goals also led the conference and ranked second in the country. Poirier had three consecutive two-goal, one-assist games in the month. The native of Valleyfield, Quebec also tied for the national lead with three power-play goals and ranked second in the country with 24 shots on goal.

Chabrier recorded five assists and 13 blocked shots to tie for first among all Hockey East skaters in the month of December in those categories. The Bayville, N.Y. native's five helpers and 13 blocked shots also tied for third nationally among blue liners (while leading all Hockey East defenders). Chabrier had a four-assist outing in December and he finished the month with seven shots on goal and a plus-3 rating.
