Week Preview: Soccer looks to continue early season success on the road with two non-conference matchups

Orono, ME - The University of Maine women's soccer team heads on the road for games two and three of their five-game trip with stops at Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University.

A look at the Black Bears:
  • Maine is looking for their best non-conference start since the 2016 season as they look to go 4-0-1 to begin the 2023 season on Thursday at Merrimack.

  • Luise Reinwald was named the America East Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week back on Monday afternoon. She is the only America East Rookie to have earned the award so far in 2023.
  • Abby Kraemer and Gillian Rovers both tallied a pair of goals in the Black Bears last contest. Kraemer leads the Black Bears with three goals and seven total points on the season.
  • Eight different Black Bears have found the back of the net through the opening four contests of the season.
Quick look at Merrimack:
  • Off to an 1-2 start.
  • They defeated UMass Lowell in their season opener, 2-1, before dropping back-to-back contests against Vermont and Stony Brook.
  • Only five Warriors have tallied a point on the season.
Quick look at Sacred Heart: 
  • Off to an 0-2-1 start. 
  • Was shutout in back-to-back games to begin the season before tying Yale, 2-2.
  • Grace O'Hara and Maria Nolan have scored the two goals for Sacred Heart on the season.
  • They will take on Vermont on Thursday night before taking on the Black Bears on Sunday.
