ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by the Bryant University Bulldogs, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at the new UMaine Softball Complex.
Bryant scored the first run of the day in the top of the first inning. The visitors scored on a wild pitch.
Caitlyn Fallon was able to work her way out of a bases loaded jam and only allow the one run. Maine trailed 1-0 after the first inning.
Jasmine Gray tied the conference match-up with a double in the bottom of the third inning.
Grace McGouldrick came around to score on the extra base hit.
With
Katie Jo Moery on third base,
Krista Francia executed the perfect bunt. Moery was able to score on the sacrifice. After four innings, Maine held a 2-1 lead.
The Bulldogs tied the Saturday afternoon contest with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning. The run would send Saturday's game to extra innings.
In the top of the ninth inning, Bryant scored a go-ahead run with a double to left field. It was the final run of the day as Maine fell, 3-2.

Next: This concludes the 2023 regular season. The University of Maine will play in the America East conference tournament next Wednesday at UMBC.
