ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team will close out the 2023 regular season with the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle against New Hampshire at 6 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond.
 
The contest will also serve as the Black Bears Cancer Awareness game.

• Maine brings an overall record of 9-1-5 and an America East mark of 4-1-2 into Thursday night's Border Battle … the Black Bears played a single game last week, battling first-place Binghamton to a 2-2 tie on the road.
• Abby Kraemer leads the conference in points (26), points per game (1.86), goals (11), shots (52) and shots per game (3.71) … she has a career-high five game-winning goals on the year and has also set career-bests in goals (11), assists (24) and points (26).
• On the national scale, Abby Kraemer is ninth overall in goals per game (0.79), tied seventh in game-winning goals (5) and sits 11th in point s per game (1.86).
• Kira Kutzinski is 9-1-5 on the year with five shutouts, an .788 save percentage and an 0.93 goals against average.
• The Black Bears opened up the season with a program record 8-0-4 unbeaten streak.
 
ABOUT NEW HAMPSHIRE
• New Hampshire has an overall record of 6-4-4 and sits in third place in America East at 3-1-3 … the Wildcats are unbeaten in the last six contests, going 3-0-3 since a 1-0 loss to Binghamton in the America East opener.
• Meghan Guarente leads UNH in points (14), goals (5) and assists (4) … Abbi Maier is second on the team with three goals.
• Sally Rainey has played all but 13 minutes in goal, going 6-4-4 with a 0.79 goals against average, .828 save percentage while posting seven solo shutouts.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• The Black Bears hold a slight edge of 16-19-2 all-time against the Wildcats.
• The teams met twice last season, both in Durham … the teams played to a 1-1 tie during the regular season and then faced off again in the America East Tournament semifinal, with the Wildcats eking out a 2-1 win.
• Head coach Scott Atherley is 15-11-2 against New Hampshire since taking over as head coach in 1999.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE
• Maine has earned the right to host at least one game of the 2023 America East Women's Soccer Tournament.
• With a win over New Hampshire, the Black Bears would clinch the second seed and earn a first-round bye and host a semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 2 … a win and a Binghamton loss or tie would push the Black Bears up to the first seed.
• With a loss to the Wildcats, the Black Bears would host a quarterfinal game on Sunday, Oct. 29.
