Notes on the Black Bears' 14-Goal Weekend
The Black Bears are heading into their first Hockey East contest with 14 goals under their belts from last weekend's series at Stonehill College.

Ida Kuoppala, a fifth year from Pedersore, Finland, exploded with four goals and three assists over the weekend, earning Hockey East's Player of the Week award. Kuoppala registered her first career hattrick in Saturday's 7-1 win. She currently leads the Black Bears in points with seven total (4G, 3A) and is tied with Ann-Frederique Guay in goals scored.

Kokavec, a first-year from Parkland, Florida, tallied two goals and two assists for four points on the weekend. She is currently second in points for the Black Bears, behind Kuoppala, with five total (2G, 3A) after just her fourth career game.

Graduate student, Ann-Frederique Guay also scored four goals over the weekend. Guay joined the Black Bears after four years at Norwich University, yet she is adjusting to Division 1 hockey quickly.

Senior goaltender Jorden Mattison registered her fifth career shutout in Friday's 7-0 win over Stonehill, making all 23 saves that came her way.

First-year, fowards Haley Ryan and Mikayla Boarder scored their first career goals over the weekend's scoring-fest.

Senior, forward Rahel Enzler also joined in on the points, racking up one goal and three assists on the weekend.

Scouting UNH
The Wildcats are also 2-2-0 so far into the 2023-24 season. Similarly to the Black Bears, the Wildcats also beat the University of New Brunswick in an exhibition game, swept non-conference games, and lost to #8 Quinnipiac.

Freshman, goaltender Sedona Blair has played in all four games for the Wildcats, while junior, forward Kira Juodikis leads the team in both goals and points scored. The Wildcats sit at 1-9 for power play opportunities.

Last Matchup
The last game between the two teams was on Jan. 13, 2023 when UNH stole the game in overtime, after tying at the end of regulation 4-4. The Black Bears won the other two games played against UNH in the 2022-23 season by scores of 3-2 and 4-0.
