  • Maine returns to Alfond Stadium on Homecoming Weekend as it looks for its second-straight win on its home turf when it hosts LIU for the first meeting between the two programs in history.
  • Maine takes on LIU in what marks the first contest between the two teams. Maine has won six consecutive games on its Homecoming weekend with the last Homecoming loss coming back in 2015 to Yale. Maine enters play 9-1 all-time against current Northeast Conference member institutions.
  • The Black Bears are coming off a 42-31 loss at Richmond in a game in which they led 14-0 in the first quarter. Joe Gillette led Maine's offense with career-highs in receptions (8), receiving yards (169) and touchdowns (3); becoming the first Black Bears to register three touchdown receptions in a game since 2021. In the past two weeks, Maine's offense is averaging 43.5 points per game, 417.5 passing yards, and 466.5 total yards. Maine's defense has now forced two or more turnovers in five of its first six games.
  • LIU enters action 1-4 on the season. After beginning the year 0-4, LIU registered its first win of the season last weekend when it defeated Sacred Heart, 23-13, at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. Running back Owen Glascoe rushed for two scores and threw for another to guide the Sharks to victory. LIU, which tallied just 192 total yards in its win, enter play ranked fifth in the NEC in scoring (15.6 ppg) and six in total offense (278.6 ypg.). Defensively, the Sharks rank 21st in FCS in passing defense (180.8 ypg). Jai Roe leads the NEC in interceptions (2), while Antwan Spencer checks in second in the NEC at 8.4 tackles per game.
  • After having nine catches and no touchdowns in Maine's first four games, Joe Gillette has tallied 12 catches for 265 yards and five touchdowns in his last two games. Gillette ranks second in the CAA and seventh nationally in touchdown receptions (5) and 11th in receiving yards per game (54.3)

A Maine Win Would:
...Be Maine's first win over LIU (first meeting).
...Be Maine's 10th win over an NEC school.
...Be Maine's 10th straight win over NEC school.
...Be Maine's first win over an NEC school since Sept. 18, 2021 (31-26 vs. Merrimack)
...Be Maine's second-straight home win.
...Be Maine's seventh-straight win on Homecoming weekend.
