Waterville, ME - The University of Maine men's and women's swim & dive teams each placed fifth overall in the Maine Collegiate Invite with the men earning 349 points and the women earning 480.50.
In the men's 200 yard freestyle relay Finn Devers, Liam Blair, Cam Watelet, and Kevin Arpin earned Maine a fourth place finish with a time of 1:23.60.
Cam Watelet also had a strong performance in the 50 yard butterfly giving Maine a fourth place finish with a time of 22.89. Watelet also gave the Black Bears a sixth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:45.59). Watelet also broke a University of Maine school record in the 100 IM with a time of 53.10, placing seventh.
In the 100 yard breastroke, Finn Devers placed fifth with a time of 59.15. Devers also shined in the 200 yard breaststroke as he finished fifth (2:09.78).
Kaden Kilinger had a strong performance in the1650 yard freestyle finishing in second overall with a time of 16:35.96.
On the diving boards, DJ Mulligan earned 242.70 points which landed him in second place. Milligan also earned second place in the 3 ammeter dive with a score of 196.85.
On the women's side Marlee Canale finished seventh in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.36.
In the 50 yard butterfly Maine earned third and fourth overall from Nella Maynard (26.01) and Isabelle Irani (26.44).
Madison Edwards, Morgan Bui, Nella Maynard, and Kayla Loughman gave Maine a fifth place in the 200 yard medley relay with a final time of 1:48.47.
Kayla Loughman (4:46.37) continued to have a strong day for the Black Bears earning fifth place in the 400 yard IM. Loughman also broke a University of Maine school record in the 100 yard IM finishing in second with a time of 59.24.
Maine had another strong performance in the 200 yard breaststroke from Molly Olzinski who placed ninth overall (2:32.34).
On the diving boards, the women secured second and third place in the 1 meter dive by Haylie Calver (242.20) and Ashley LeClaire (235.90). In the 3 meter dive Haylie Calver (240.70), Maddie Ruoppert (225.45), and Ashley LeClair (219.10) secured third, fourth, and fifth place for Maine.
Maine will have their next meet on Jan. 21 when they travel to face off against Bowdoin College.
