Orono, ME - In honor of 25 years of the program's history, UMaine Athletics is highlighting the ten top moments of Maine women's ice hockey over the past 25 years.
On February 23, 2018 the University of Maine women's ice hockey team earned their first Women's Hockey East Association (WHEA) playoff win in program history with a 3-2 victory over Boston University.
A huge first period push helped the No. 3 seeded Maine Black Bears hold onto a 3-2 win in the first game of the WHEA Quarterfinals series against No. 6 seeded Boston University. With 24 saves by Carly Jackson in net, the Black Bears pulled out the win. Three different Black Bears scored in the first period to help earn the victory. The players who each tallied a goal were Tereza Vanišová, Catherine Tufts, and Josefine Engmann.
