Black Bears Cancer Awareness Series is presented by Black Bear Inn and Event Center
Orono, Maine -- This weekend's football game against Richmond will be a part of the 'Black Bears Cancer Awareness' series, presented by Black Bear Inn and Event Center.
Through the assistance of the Christine B. Foundation, the Black Bears will welcome cancer survivors to Saturday's game and will recognize them with a special ceremony at halftime. UMaine's Student-Athletes Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be present at the game and hanging out special pink items including pom-poms, temporary tattoos, stickers, and breast cancer awareness bracelets to all fans. SAAC has also created a large pink ribbon poster which will be stationed at the gate to Alfond Stadium. SAAC will be encouraging fans to write the names of loved ones who have been affected by cancer on stickers and post them on the ribbon to recognize them.
The Christine B. Foundation (CBF) is a community of cancer support. Cancer is the leading cause of death in the State of Maine. CBF's purpose is to address these causes and remove burdens faced by patients, survivors, and families.
