PREVIEW: Women's Soccer Host Two Important America East Contests

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's soccer team will return to the pitch this Thursday, October 13, when they host the UMass Lowell River Hawks at 6:00 pm., before hosting Binghamton Sunday, October 16. Kick-off for Senior Day is set for 12:00 pm.

The Series
Since 2013, the Black Bears are 6-3-0 against UML. Maine won six straight games from 2013 to 2018.
 
Since 2005, the Black Bears are 4-8-2 against BU. Last year's match-up finished in a scoreless double overtime loss.
 
Black Bears Notes and Notables
  • The flagship is looking to get back into the playoffs for the 14th time in the last 20 seasons. Maine is led by four seniors and eight graduate students.
  • Maine holds a 3-0-2 record in America East with a victory over Vermont last Sunday. Abby Kraemer scored the game winning goal, while Emma Donovan assisted on the game winner. Kraemer scored two in the game, while Emma Schneider scored her first career goal as a Black Bear.
  • Birte Speck (Player of the Week), Madison Michaud (Rookie of the Week), Halle Rogers (Defensive Player of the Week) and Jordane Pinette (Rookie of the Week) have all won awards over the first two months.
  • Sophomore Abby Kraemer led the Black Bears in points during the 2021 season with a total of 11 during her rookie campaign. Graduate student Emma Donovan and junior Delaney LaBonte each scored two goals last season.
A Bit About the River Hawks
  • UML is coming off a 8-6-3 season, which saw them fall in the first round of the America East Tournament to the University of New Hampshire in a shootout.
  • Four of the River Hawks top five scorers - Anna Edson, Calliste Brookshire, Julie Edholm, and Chloe Layne - from 2021 return in 2022.
  • Taylor Burgess returns for UML after appearing in nine goals and posting a 1.76 GAA and 0.712 save percentage last season.
A Bit About the Bearcats
  • BU is coming off a 8-8-3 season, which saw them fall in the first round of the America East Tournament to the University at Albany, 2-0.
  • Four of the Bearcats top five scorers - Maya Anand, Olivia McKnight, Victoria McKnight, and Peyton Gilmore - from 2021 return in 2022.
  • Binghamton does not return a goalkeeper who has appeared in a contest.
