Meadows scored for Maine while Barenberg picked up the shutout.

WORCESTER, Mass. – Isabella Meadows scored while Elena Barenberg earned a shutout as the University of Maine women's soccer team topped Holy Cross, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.

The Black Bears took a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the contest when Sandrine Brault connected with Meadows. After Meadows controlled the ball in Maine's half and switch fields up the right flank to Brault, both players drove towards the box and a streaking Meadows headed home a return cross from Brault.

The one-goal lead held until halftime and then the Crusaders came out firing in search of the equalizer. A big block from Meghan Bernetti and four second-half saves for Elena Barenberg preserved the clean sheet in the non-conference finale.

NOTES

Maine had the 11-9 lead in shots … Holy Cross had the 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
The teams were even in corner kicks at five each.
Elena Barenberg made five saves for Maine … it marked her second shutout of the season.
Maine is now 11-9-1 in the all-time series against Holy Cross.
Isabella Meadows scored her team-leading third goal of the season.
Sandrine Brault recorded her second assist of the year.
Meghan Bernetti played in her 60th career game.
Bernetti, Hilary Washington, Luise Reinwald and Olivia Grisdale all played the full 90 minutes for Maine.
