ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team and UMass Lowell played to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon at the New Balance Soccer Complex.

The Black Bears took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when Aja Turner and Abbey Thornton combined to feed Luise Reinwald in the middle of the box. Reinwald's right-footed strike found the back of the net inside the right post. The visitors responded less than 10 minutes later with Nina Hertz-Saebbo connecting on a shot at the edge of the box and then after it deflected off of a defender, finishing it on the near side.

An even second half saw the teams equal in corner kicks and Maine with a slight 6-5 edge in shots and neither team found the back of the net.

NOTES

The Black Bears had the 18-10 lead in shots and a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
Maine had a 6-3 lead in corner kicks.
Elena Barenberg made two saves for Maine.
Maine is now 9-4-3 in the all-time series with UMass Lowell.
Luise Reinwald scored her third goal of the season to set a new career-high.
Abbey Thornton recorded her third assist of the season while Aja Turner earned her first.
Meghan Bernetti, Hilary Washington and Olivia Grisdale played the full 90 minutes for Maine.
With the tie, Maine pushed its unbeaten streak to six games, going 3-0-3 in that stretch.
