ORONO - For the second straight season Maine had a pair of athletes honored as National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholars of Distinction for achieving above a 3.9 GPA cumulatively for the first semester of the 2020-21 season, as
Julia Ross and
Kristjana Walker were honored.
The Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-21 academic year. Julia is a Biomedical Engineering major and becomes a two-time honoree after receiving the award last season during her freshman campaign. First year
Kristjana Walker maintained her sterling GPA while studying Marine Sciences in her freshman year in Orono.
Before
Julia took home honors last year, Maine had not had an honoree since 2015.
The full list of honorees can be found within the official NFHCA release
