About the Black Bears
• Maine dropped both games at #1 Boston College on February 19th and 20th. Brad Morrissey and Tristan Poissant both scored in the Friday night loss to the Eagles. Victor Ostman saved a career high 56 shots in the series finale loss in Chestnut Hill.
• The University of Maine men's ice hockey team enters the season with 10 new faces on the roster after seeing seven players graduate, transfer, or leave to pursue professional hockey.
• Nine incoming freshmen and one transfer senior make up players who were added by the coaching staff. Three of the incoming student athletes are from the United States, one hails from Sweden, while the other six are from Canada.
• The nine-member Class of 2024 includes Kabore Dunn, Tristan Poissant, Donavan Villeneuve-Houle, Zachary Aughe, Lynden Breen, Brad Morrissey, John Mulera, Victor Ostman, and Connor Androlewicz.
About the Huskies
• UConn finished with a record of 15-15-2 last year, ultimately having their Hockey East Tournament series with the Black Bears canceled.
• The Huskies return three of their top five scorers from 2019-20 in Carter Turnbull, Vladislav Firstov, and Jachym Kondelik.
• Tomas Vomacka, playing in 33 games last year, posted a 3.13 GAA and a .898 save percentage.
The Series with UConn
• UMaine and UConn, who first squared off in 1977, are tied at 6-6-4 in the all-time series.
• The teams played three times during the 2019-20 season. UConn hosted the Black Bears and took a single game in the Webster Bank Arena, before the Hockey East foes split a two game series in the Alfond Arena.
• Mitchell Fossier scored an overtime game winning goal in Maine's lone win against the Huskies. The goal came with 00:53 remaining in the overtime period.
• After the first meeting on Dec. 9, 1977 – a 10-2 UMaine victory – the teams played again in 1978 and then didn't meet again until the Huskies joined Hockey East in 2014.
