ORONO, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell in overtime to the Eagles of Boston College, 2-1.

FIRST GOAL (1-0 Maine): Just over five minutes into the first period, the Black Bears scored the first goal of the afternoon. Mira Seregely carried the puck from behind the Maine next, the length of the ice and found her way behind the Eagle net. With all eyes on the Hungarian freshmen, Alyssa Wruble found some open space in front of the net. Seregely dished the puck to her linemate. Wruble made quick work of the pass and gave her squad an early 1-0 lead.

The two squads skated to a scoreless second period. Each Hockey East had a chance on the power play but nothing came to fruition. 

SECOND GOAL (1-1): With the Eagles' goalie pulled, Hannah Bilka tied the Saturday afternoon contest at one goal apiece with 1:22 remaining in regulation. Bilka's original shot was saved but the junior recovered her rebound and found the back of the net. 

THIRD GOAL (2-1 BC): Kelly Browne, as was the case with yesterday's game, scored the final goal of the game for the Eagles in OT. With only three players on the ice for both teams, the senior was able to pick her spot and strike. Finding the back of the net halfway through the extra period, Browne completed the sweep for Boston College.

Notes: Wruble scored her fourth goal of the year, while Seregely recorded her fourth assist and Little chipped in with her second assist of the campaign.

Loryn Porter stopped 25 shots during the final game of 2021.

The Black Bears are off until 2022 when they travel to Vermont on January 2 for a single game. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
