ORONO, Maine - With a 3.774 grade-point average, the University of Maine softball team was slotted number five in the GPA rankings, which was announced by the NFCA on Tuesday. The Black Bears also had 20 student-athletes named to the Easton/NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes team.
With the 3.774 GPA, Maine finished with the highest GPA in the America East. NCAA Division I schools led the country with 1,240 scholar-athletes. The division also had the most student-athletes with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher among NCAA Division I,II and NAIA member institutions.
