ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team picked up an 11-7 rain-shortened victory over Binghamton on Sunday morning at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex.

How it Happened

• The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and added two more runs in the top of the third.
• Maine responded with a six-run home half of the second, with a series of singles capped off by a three-run triple from Madison Hand
• After Binghamton pulled on run back in the third, the Black Bears pushed the lead to 8-4 with a Neve Adams two-RBI double … the Bearcats didn't go quietly, knocking a solo shot in the fourth and a pair of runs in the fifth … Maine answered back, though, with a Morgan Pool home run and a Hand two-RBI double for an 11-7 lead through five full.
• In the top of the sixth, Binghamton got the leadoff runner on before the game was sent into a rain delay and eventually called off.

Game Notes

• Madison Hand was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and five RBI.
• Morgan Pool was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and one walk … Eviana Robles also a had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with one run scored and one double.
• Seven total Black Bears had hits on the day.
• Maine is now 41-40 in the all-time series with Binghamton.
