Richard Reichenbach of the University of Maine women's ice hockey team, announced that senior defense woman
Taylor Leech was selected to be the captain of the Black Bears for the 2020-21 season.
Leech, who will be entering her senior year, is a native of Bowdoinham, Maine. Over her career, Leech has tallied 23 points, 20 of which are assists. For the 2019-20 season, Leech ranked second among her fellow defense women in total points with 14, while holding first with 12 assists across her 34 games played.
"Taylor has been a role model on and off the ice in her three years at Maine. She has worked hard to become a player our team heavily relies on, both on the ice and as a leader who makes everyone on the team better. Our program is honored to have Taylor as a captain for the 2020-21 season," Reichenbach wrote.
The Black Bears concluded the 2019-20 season with the programs second ever Hockey East semifinal appearance and will be looking to build off of the impressive season and carry it into the 2020-21 campaign.
