Box Score HAMDEN, Conn. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team pushed the nationally ranked #10 Quinnipiac Bobcats to an overtime period on Saturday before the game ended in a 4-3 loss.
Forward
Mackenzie Podewell opened the scoring for Maine, registering her first career goal just a few minutes into the game.
Mikayla Boarder followed up with a breakaway goal late in the first period as
Paige Fong earned the assist. Iabelle Michaud also notched her first career goal when she contributed to the scoring during the second period.
Lily Fetch and
Ava Stevenson earned assists on Michaud's goal which accounts for six Black Bears earning a point in the contest.
Kiia Lahtinen held the Black Bears steady making 38 saves on 42 shots faced.
The overtime period came with chances from both teams before the Bobcats ended the game.with 2:16 left to plauy. Maine took 20 shots on goal which was led by
Mikayla Boarder who accounted for four.

Maine travels to Madison, WI to face the reigning national champions, the Wicsonsin Badgers on Oct. 3/4 for a non-conference series. Game times are set for 7:00 pm and 2:00 pm, respectively, at Labahn Arena.
