ORONO, Maine – Former University of Maine women's basketball student-athlete Chantel Charles, who played for the Black Bears from 2012-16, is currently competing in Serbia with the Great Britain National Team at the 2020 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.
 
Charles and Great Britain opened the tournament with a contest against China. The team will take on Korea on Saturday, Feb 8 in the second of three qualifiers. Three of the four teams in the tournament will earn qualification to attend the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer.
 
When she is not competing for her native Great Britain, Charles plays professionally for Clarinos De La Laguna Spain.
