Baseball drops first game of weekend at Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. - The University of Maine baseball program dropped their first game of the weekend to Louisiana Tech on Friday night by a 5-1 final, making it Maine's seventh straight loss to start 2020.

GAME NOTES
  • Nicholas Sinacola got the start on the mound, his third straight Friday start of the season. The sophomore righty went six innings, tying his career-high with eight strikeouts for the second straight outing. He scattered five hits and walked just one batter, but hit three, two of which came around to score.
  • Dillon Stimpson handled the final two frames on the hill, giving up a single unearned run. Stimpson has given up just one earned run in his last six innings out of the bullpen
  • Maine got their lone run in the second inning, starting with a single by Alex McKenney up the middle that Ryan Turenne followed with a double. Connor Goodman got his first hit and RBI of his collegiate career next to bring McKenney home and give Maine the early 1-0 lead.
  • The Black Bears held the Bulldogs scoreless until the fourth inning where they tied it up at one apiece with an RBI triple off Sinacola. Four more unanswered runs sealed the victory, as Maine was held hitless for the final seven innings of this one.
UP NEXT
  • Louisiana Tech and Maine will matchup again tomorrow for games two and three of the four game series in Ruston. Maine will send Matthew Pushard to the mound at 2:00 Central / 3:00 Eastern, followed by Colton Carson in the nightcap at 7:00 Central / 8:00 Eastern.
