Maine wraps up weekend at Campbell with 6-2 loss

BUIES CREEK,  N.C. - The Maine baseball program dropped its sixth contest to begin the 2020 season on Sunday afternoon, wrapping up play at the Campbell Invitational with a 6-1 loss to the hosting Camels.

The Black Bears employed six pitchers in the effort, as Colton Carson got his first career collegiate start in his second appearance as a freshman, but went just one inning before handing the ball over to his bullpen comrades. Offensively, Maine was held to just four hits as a team.
  • Jeffrey Omohundro recorded the first RBI of the day, driving home classmate Cody Pasic with a double in the fifth inning.
  • The other Maine RBI came in the ninth, courtesy of an Alex McKenny double that knocked in Hernen Sardinas, McKenney's fourth RBI of the season.
  • Jacob Small and Tyler Marinaccio each tossed an inning of shutout relief work, and Dillon Stimpson tossed up two zeroes of his own. As a staff, Maine surrendered six walks on the day.
UP NEXT
  • Maine returns to Orono for a few days before heading right back onto the road. They'll travel to Louisiana Tech for four games in three days between Friday and Sunday. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:00 PM in Ruston, Louisiana.
