DETAILS: Jeff Cole Memorial Spring Football Game Set for April 27

Championship Trophy Photo Op begins at 11:30, kickoff at noon, autograph session postgame!

Orono, Maine -- The 15th annual Jeff Cole Memorial Spring Football game will take place on Saturday, April 27 with kickoff slated for noon. The Black Bears are excited to introduce several new additions to this year's game including a pregame trophy photo op, post game autograph session and much more!

Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. and fans will be treated to an opportunity to have their photo taken with some of the Black Bears' newest hardware! A station will be setup underneath the inflatable Bear Head which will allow fans to pose with the 2018 NCAA Semifinal trophy, the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championship trophy and the coveted 'Brice-Cowell' musket, presented annually to the winner of the Maine & New Hampshire football game.

The action will begin on the field at noon as fans will be able to get a glimpse of the 2019 squad as the Black Bears will go head-to-head in a true blue/white scrimmage format! Following the game, fans are invited down to Morse Field for a post game autograph session and photos with their favorite players! All fans will receive a free 2019 schedule poster!

Representatives from Outta the Ordinary (OTO) a new restaurant in Old Town, will be offering free samples and snacks to fans. Dunkin gift cards will be distributed while supplies last along with giveaways from Penobscot Community Health Center.

For fans not able to attend Saturday's Spring Game will still be able to keep up with the action! Rich Kimball and Bob Lucy will have the radio call of the game which can be found by tuning into 103.9 WVOM-FM Bangor, 101.3 WCQM-FM Augusta, 95.1 WVOM-FM, 1450 WVOM-AM Rockland and streaming worldwide at GoBlackBears.com and on the TuneIn application.

Jeff Cole (1974-2004) served as an assistant coach at the University of Maine for six years.  "Coleman" is best remembered for his passion for life and the game of football, his commitment to education and his love for family and friends. Cole passed away on October 18, 2004 after a multi-year battle with cancer.

Cole was an exceptional role model and coach. During his tenure with the Black Bears he coached the running back, tight end, and wide receiver positions. He also served as the team's special teams coordinator. His impact on the young men he coached as a teacher, mentor and friend was immeasurable.

An endowed foundation has been initiated in Cole's memory. The Mission of the Jeff Cole Foundation is to raise funds for the purposes of providing academic scholarships to graduating Avon High School (Avon, New York) seniors planning to study education or history; otherwise promoting the value of higher education; and supporting high school and intercollegiate athletics to best commemorate his life.
