ORONO, Maine -- Several former members of the University of Maine women's basketball team have advanced their careers to the pro level following their time with the Black Bears. Currently, five former Black Bears are competing at the pro level throughout Europe. Below is an update on some of the recent success of our current professional Black Bears.
Sigi Koizar ('17) - Hungary (ZTE NKK)
Koizar was ZTE NKK's second leading scorer in its last game on Sunday (Jan. 13). Koizar dropped 14 points in the contest while adding four rebounds and four assists. Koizar is averaging 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 steals this season.
Milica Mitrovic ('16) - Serbia (Partizan)
Led Partizan to an 81-45 victory in Saturday's (Jan. 12) win over tenth-ranked Student in the Serbian 1 ZLS. Mitrovic tallied 15 points and pulled down seven boards in 33 minutes of action. ZKK Partizan is ranked sixth in the 1 ZLS. This season, Mitrovic is averaging 12.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 15 games.
Anna Heise ('16) - Germany (Jahn Muenchen)
Was a major contributor in Jahn Muenchen's 68-61 victory against the ninth-ranked Rhein Main Baskets in the German 2.Bundesliga on Saturday (Jan. 12) night. Heise recorded 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds in 23 minutes. Jahn Muenchen (7-3) is ranked third in the South group. Heise, in her first season with Jahn Muenchen, is averaging 10.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 10 games.
Mikaela Gustafsson ('16) - Sweden (Telge)
Gustafsson, in her first year with Telge, is averaging 8.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists this season.
Chantel Charles ('16) - Spain (Ciudad de la Adelantados)
Charles contributed to a convincing victory over seventh-ranked Almeria, 92-75, in the Spanish LF2 division on Saturday (Jan. 12). Charles scored seven points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes of game time. Ciudad de la Adelantados (11-2) is ranked second in Group B this season and has won five in a row. This year, Charles averages 6.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.9 steals in 13 games.
